Great Hedge Fund Video: H-E-D-G-E by Merle Hazard

Happy Tuesday, I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend!

I got to my desk this morning, and found that someone had IM’d me this video over the weekend. It’s a great country song by Merle Hazard about Hedge funds, sung as a spoof of D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Worth a watch 🙂 Have a great week!

PS: We’re working on a repository for both funny and serious Hedge Fund related videos… stay tuned!

Lyrics H-E-D-G-E

Financial markets are global now
Every continent on earth
But it’s still real hard to trade a put or a swap
When you don’t know what they’re worth

I bought a couple mortgage-backed CDOs
Then the prices…took a fall
Now I’ll spell out what happened when
I got my final margin call

My H-E-D-G-E F-U-N-D
Went bankrupt today
Goldman S-A-C-H-S
Took my funding away

I was leveraged 10 to 1
But it should’ve been 2, or 3
Oh how I wish I’d had
A working H-E-D-G-E

Yes my H-E-D-G-E F-U-N-D
Went bankrupt today
Me and all of my capital
Will be going away

Moody’s got the ratings wrong
So did S & P
Oh how I wish my fund had had
A real H-E-D-G-E

I’m thinking that it might be
Impossible
To have a reliable
H-E-D-G-E
