Reuters.uk – The Executive Committee of the fifth annual fundraiser sponsored by Hedge Funds Care and the San Francisco 49ers Foundation have raised their highest amount of funding to date.Approximately $864,980 was raised to support community-based nonprofits with services focused on the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
The fifth annual West Coast Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit was held Wednesday, March 8 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. More than 500 people from the hedge fund industry and theSan Francisco 49ers organization attended the event including San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, guard Justin Smiley, cornerback Mike Rumph and wide receivers Marcus Maxwell and Otis Amey.49ers assistant head coach Mike Singletary and defensive coordinator Billy Davis also attended, along with 49ers alumni Guy McIntyre and Keena Turner.
The event featured an exciting silent auction which raised $50,000. The highest bid reached $22,000 for a Jerry Weintraub/John Botti bike ride and picnic. Weintraub and Botti are both hedge fundmanagers in San Francisco.
