BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 8, 2005–Pi Capital Inc. will launch this month Pi Cap U.S. Equity Long/Short Growth Fund, Ltd., an offshore long/short equity hedge fund open tointernational investors. Pi Capital has retained Bear Stearns as the fund’s prime broker and HedgeWorks as its fund administrator. Rothstein Kass will serve as auditor.
Pi Cap employs a quantitative approach model developed by the Beverly Hills-based investment firm’s newly appointed Chief Investment Officer, Akber Zaidi, to evaluate prospective investment opportunities. An investment industry professional, Zaidi recently joined Pi Capital from Citigroup Smith Barney’s Private Client Services division, where he served as adviser and portfolio manager to high-net-worth clients.
The fund’s investment strategy has three non-correlating components, each focused on adding value to the total portfolio. The first component is to establish long positions in high quality companies exhibiting strong organic growth. Second, to manage risk, the fund seeks to take short positions on a selective and opportunistic basis. The third component is to hedge risk with a mix of financial and commodity futures.
