It’s clear sailing ahead for a couple who met during a regatta.
Elizabeth Carmany and George Perreten were married recently at Trinity Church in Newport, R.I. Their reception was at the New York Yacht Club in Newport.
Formerly of Boston, Liz now works in New York City for a hedge fund. George is project manager for a contracting company there.
“We met in Newport,” she said. “We both crew on the same sailboat in a regatta.”
He proposed over dessert.
“We always have the same dessert in this restaurant,” she said. “He had picked it up from there and brought it home. He hid the ring under the table.”
Liz’s silk, strapless Vera Wang gown had a straight neckline and an A-line skirt. She wore two bracelets, one pearl and ruby and the other pearl and sapphire, that had belonged to her great-aunt.
Erica Johnson was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cory Vietor, Caroline Glass, Heather Tow-Yick, Lynn Rasic, Kate Lussen, Charlotte Matthews and George’s daughter, Kayleigh Perreten.
Zachary Perreten was his father’s best man. Ushers were Liz’s brother, Bill Carmany; George’s brothers, Crit, Dan and Fred Perreten; David Anderson; and Peter Kuhn.
Deborah Lawrence and Paul Kunz were readers.
The couple’s honeymoon was in Bermuda.
