New York (HedgeCo.net) – In an update of a Manhattan Federal Court filing, Patricia Cohen is now claiming her ex husband, Steven A. Cohen, has also defrauded her out of what may be a controlling stake in his $12 billion hedge fund, SAC Capital.
The allegations include the speculation that the hedge fund manager was hiding funds during the 1989 divorce. Cohen started the hedge fund in 1992.
Reuters quoted a spokesman for SAC Capital and Steven Cohen, Jonathan Gasthalter: “These recycled allegations are ridiculous, they are nothing more than a blatant extortion attempt arising from a divorce that was finalized over 20 years ago.”
Claiming illegal insider trading, the complaint goes after the hedge hedge fund manager’s brother and some officials. The SEC investigated allegations of insider trading in 1986 but ended the investigation without filing any charges against Cohen.
