New York (HedgeCo.net) – New York hedge fund executive Ronen Katz died on Sunday afternoon in a collision on the corner of Canal and West Street, the New York Times reports.
The 27 year old Katz, on a 2009 Ducati, was hit by a Nissan making an incorrect turn. The driver had a learning permit, and fled the scene. The young mother, 25, later turned herself in and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license, according to the paper.
Katz moved to the U.S. from Israel at a young age. Graduating from the University of Pennsylvania he worked as an intern at Merrill Lynch before joining the hedge fund Angelo Gordon & Company. Garrett Walls, the managing director of marketing for Angelo Gordon, said Katz started at the company in 2005 and rose to vice president in the financial division, The New York Times reported.
