WSJ – Jeffrey Ubben, who runs one of the West Coast’s biggest hedge funds, styles himself as a friendly activist, one who works with companies behind the scenes rather than seeking to embarrass management.
But there is one industry he has lately been bashing publicly: his own. Mr. Ubben, the founder of San Francisco-based ValueAct Capital Management LP, is vocal about his fear that recent behavior by some of his peers could give activism a bad rap.
