The sound of money

Two New Jersey companies, Expand Networks and Audible, celebrated $15 million in venture capital investments last week. Wayne-based Audible received a $6 million investment from Apax Partners, aglobal private equity firm, and Bertelsmann, an international media company. Alan Patricof and Oren Zeev, two partners from Apax, will join the Audible board. Audible is the Internet’s largestprovider of premium spoken-audio content for download and playback on personal computers, CD or Audible-compatible devices. Customers can download, for instance, a seven-hour recording of HillaryClinton’s “Living History.” Roseland’s Expand Networks, a leader in technology to optimize wide area networks, received $9 million in financing from a group of investors. Israel’s Tamir FishmanVentures led the financing round.
