{"id":10361,"date":"2009-04-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"massmutual-hedge-fund-sued-in-loss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/04\/2009\/massmutual-hedge-fund-sued-in-loss.html","title":{"rendered":"MassMutual hedge fund sued in loss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Boston Globe &#8211; A Boston law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against a hedge fund controlled by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. for placing all of the fund&#8217;s assets with Bernard Madoff, who is facing life in prison for conducting a massive fraud.<\/p>\n<p>The lead plaintiff is Lawrence J. Rothschild, a Needham businessman who invested about $1.1 million with the Rye Select Broad Market XL Fund, according to the lawsuit, filed yesterday in Massachusetts Superior Court.<\/p>\n<div class=\"articlePluckHidden\">\n<p>The suit alleges that Rye did not explicitly say that it placed all of its assets with Madoff, and that the firm&#8217;s parent, Tremont Partners Inc.
