<\/a>“The Dow Jones Credit Suisse Hedge Fund Index rose 0.23% in August, with seven out of ten sectors posting positive performance for the month. “Oliver Schupp, President of Credit Suisse Index Co., Inc., said.<\/p>\n“In contrast, global equity markets, as represented by the Dow Jones World Index, fell 3.62% amid market concerns over the weakening pace of global economic growth. Among the top performing hedge fund sectors for the month were Managed Futures (+4.87%) and Global Macro (+1.48%), which benefited from long fixed income positions and relatively low exposure to equity markets. Equity Market Neutral and Long\/Short Equity posted the worst performance this month, finishing down -1.55% and -1.12% respectively.” Schupp concluded.<\/p>\n
