{"id":22813,"date":"2011-06-01T08:05:19","date_gmt":"2011-06-01T12:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=22813"},"modified":"2011-06-01T08:11:40","modified_gmt":"2011-06-01T12:11:40","slug":"hedge-fund-performance-for-april-asset-flows-through-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/06\/2011\/hedge-fund-performance-for-april-asset-flows-through-march.html","title":{"rendered":"Hedge Fund Performance for April, Asset Flows Through March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York (HedgeCo.net) &#8211; The economic recovery continued to gain momentum through April, allowing all Morningstar hedge fund\u00a0categories to post positive numbers for the month, according to Mallory Horejs, alternative investment analyst for\u00a0Morningstar. \u201cTrend-following strategies in particular profited from the market\u2019s momentum by taking\u00a0advantage of surging commodities prices, strengthening credit markets, and a depreciating U.S. Dollar.\u201d<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2011-March-0651.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-22817\" title=\"2011-March-065\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2011-March-0651.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2011-March-0651.jpg 292w, https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2011-March-0651-215x300.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 204px) 100vw, 204px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some highlights include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Hedge funds in Morningstar\u2019s database netted $3.6 billion of inflows in March<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Morningstar 1000 Hedge Fund Index increased 2.5% in April<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The currency-hedged Morningstar MSCI Hedge Fund\u00a0Index rose 1.6%<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Stock market volatility dropped to its lowest level in nearly four years<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Morningstar Global Non-Trend\u00a0Hedge Fund Index advanced 2.8%<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Gold and silver crude oil drove returns of funds in Morningstar&#8217;s\u00a0Global Trend Hedge Fund Index which increased 5.9% for the month.<\/p>\n<p>In a reversal of recent outflow trends, hedge funds of funds in Morningstar\u2019s database experienced inflows of $1.2 billion in March.
