Dow Jones Indexes and Pring Research have announced plans to develop and co-brand a U.S. business cycle gauge designed to closely track Pring Research\u2019s proprietary investment strategy.<\/p>\n
Pring Research\u2019s Principal and President, Martin J. Pring, is an award-winning leader in the global investment community who has developed a rules-based methodology that identifies the current stage of the economic business cycle. His \u201cPring Barometers\u2019 Signals\u201d then determine the asset classes and equity sectors that historically outperform during those particular stages.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn joining with Martin Pring, we plan to produce an innovative index meant to accurately and effectively measure this unique methodology,\u201d said Michael A. Petronella, President, Dow Jones Indexes. \u201cFurther, the new index\u2019s transparent and investable multi-asset portfolio will be well-suited to serve as the basis for ETFs, mutual funds, separately managed accounts and a wide variety of investment products.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr. Pring founded Sarasota, Fla. -based Pring Research in 1981 and began providing research for financial institutions and individual investors around the world. Since 1984, he has published the Intermarket Review, a monthly market report offering long-term synopses of the world’s major financial markets. Mr. Pring is also chairman of Pring Turner Capital Group \u2013 a Walnut Creek, Calif.-based money management firm dedicated to allocating assets according to Mr. Pring\u2019s proprietary U.S. business-cycle research.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new index will offer investors and money managers a vehicle that takes advantage of the fact that business cycles move through a set series of phases,\u201d Mr. Pring said. \u201cOnce the index methodology identifies these phases, stocks, bonds, and commodities will be appropriately allocated to leverage the investment environments that develop as the business cycle progresses. For Pring Research, this collaboration with Dow Jones Indexes will be a commercial validation of the highest order for our business cycle research.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over the course of his career, Mr. Pring has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Barron\u2019s, L.A. Times, MarketWatch and the National Review. He has also written more than 20 books, including Technical Analysis Explained, which has been translated into 10 languages and is required reading for the Chartered Market Technician\u2019s exam. Mr. Pring has received the Canadian Technical Society\u2019s Jack Frost Memorial Award, the Market Technicians Association\u2019s coveted Annual Award in 2004, and been made an honorary member of the Swiss Technical Society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
