Giselle Lee, Hong Kong head of sales at Man Investments said that \u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bdHong Kong is one of the most successful retail hedgefund spaces anywhere.\u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bd According to Lee, 66 percent of the demand for hedge funds in Man\u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bds portfolios last year came from retail banks.<\/p>\n
Hedge funds are witnessing accelerating growth in Asia, as more investors seek additional information about alternative investments. The Hong Kong hedge fund market is one of the advanced markets in Asia. Hong Kong was one of the first countries in the region to embrace hedge funds; Singapore has however become one of the chief rivals to Hong Kong. Experts believe that future growth of global hedge fund management will follow the institutional angle, as is the case in the United States and Europe.<\/p>\n
Lee explained that \u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bdRetail banks are finding that their clients are getting tired of generic guaranteed funds and are looking for more ways to diversify.\u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bd She also said, \u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bdI think the higher take-up by retail clients – that is the man on the street – in Hong Kong is due to the presence of regulations.\u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bd<\/p>\n
