BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 24, 2003–Bain Capital Ventures, the venture capital fund of Bain Capital, today announced the addition of Jim Maikranz as special advisor. Jim, formerly the senior vicepresident of sales for both SAP and J.D. Edwards, brings with him experience that combines sales and technical roles across many successful early-stage and large technology companies.<\/p>\n
As special advisor, Jim will work extensively with Bain Capital Ventures’ portfolio companies, assisting with detailed sales methodology and tactics, marketing and lead generation, product positioning, technical road mapping and general strategy, as well as other areas critical to the success of early-stage companies.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Jim served as the senior vice president, worldwide sales, at J.D. Edwards, where he was responsible for the development and overall execution of worldwide sales strategies, sales support activities and strategic alliances. Prior to joining J.D. Edwards, Jim served as the senior vice president of sales for SAP, where he developed sales strategies, participated in global pricing strategies and established competitive positioning initiatives. Jim also has excelled in a number of senior roles at a variety of other successful companies, including NCR, IBM and Cullinet Software. Additionally, he has been on the Board of Directors and Advisory Boards of a number of high-growth, early-stage software companies including i2, Iona, Netfish, Healy Hudson, Splash Pond, DataSynapse and Servigistics.<\/p>\n
