{"id":33051,"date":"2012-12-18T09:26:16","date_gmt":"2012-12-18T14:26:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=33051"},"modified":"2013-05-14T10:00:59","modified_gmt":"2013-05-14T14:00:59","slug":"2-prominent-hedge-fund-managers-found-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/12\/2012\/2-prominent-hedge-fund-managers-found-guilty.html","title":{"rendered":"2 Prominent Hedge Fund Managers Found Guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York (HedgeCo.Net) &#8211; A New York jury has found Anthony Chiasson\u00a0and Todd Newman, both\u00a0former hedge fund managers, guilty of insider trading charges.<\/p>\n<p>The NYT reports:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The government built its case around the testimony of two key witnesses: Spyridon Adondakis, who is known as Sam, who worked for Mr. Chiasson at Level Global, and Jesse Tortora, who was supervised by Mr. Newman at Diamondback.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>ABC reeports:<\/p>\n<p>Newman, of Needham, Mass., is a former portfolio manager with Stamford, Conn.-based Diamondback Capital Management who had been accused of making about $2.8 million from illegal tips.<\/p>\n<p>Chiasson, of Manhattan, is a co-founder of Greenwich, Conn.-based Level Global Investors. The government said he earned about $50 million illegally by trading on a tip received about Dell Inc. stock in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Sentencing was set for April 19 for both men.
