New instruments, assetclasses (e.g. merger arbitrage ) and innovations in financial markets (e.g. credit derivatives) have had a seminal impact on the business.<\/p>\n<p>This has got to be one of the most intellectually vibrant niches in the financial markets, the mother of all global money games. The hedge fund business has had a global dimension since its genesisin the 1960&#8217;s.
