Some of the hedge fund industry’s biggest names made their sale pitch to prospective clients at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
\nThe 54 hedge funds presenting are all clients of Goldman Sachs’s prime brokerage business, which services the $2.2 trillion hedge fund industry. Hundreds of potential customers including fund of funds, endowments and pension funds are here to take part in Goldman’s 5th Annual Hedge Fund Symposium, where tech and Japan are hot topics, according to a source.<\/p>\n
The all-day event is taking place inside the stadium, a good thing on this chilly Tuesday. The symposium is akin to speed dating. Groups of up to ten potential investors listen to a hedge fund’s presentation before moving onto the next one. The presentations last 40 to 45 minutes, and according to a source inside the conference, take place in 51 of the boxes surrounding the playing field.<\/p>\n
Among the firms presenting are some of the industry’s best known names, including SAC Capital, PEAK6, Discovery Capital Management, JANA Partners, Highbridge Capital Management, Passport Capital and Knighthead Capital.<\/p>\n
