Today it offered them a pretty raw deal. Kevyn Orr, the lawyer\u00a0tasked by the Michigan state government\u00a0with sorting out the mess,\u00a0said it would\u00a0default on some of that debt\u00a0and offer creditors a mere ten cents on the dollar for other parts. If they balk, Orr\u00a0has said he will take the city to bankruptcy court.<\/p>\n<p>Detroit wouldn\u2019t be the first municipality in the US to go broke. A handful of smaller cities had to do so, thanks to\u00a0poor decisions made at the height of the housing bubble.
