{"id":36424,"date":"2013-06-27T11:42:46","date_gmt":"2013-06-27T15:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=36424"},"modified":"2013-06-27T12:21:54","modified_gmt":"2013-06-27T16:21:54","slug":"private-equity-firms-invest-347-billion-in-us-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/06\/2013\/private-equity-firms-invest-347-billion-in-us-companies.html","title":{"rendered":"Private Equity Firms Invest $347 Billion In US Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1372260011101_31570\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/2007311142210_pocketing_money_4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-27894\" alt=\"2007311142210_pocketing_money_4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/2007311142210_pocketing_money_4.jpg\" width=\"213\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a>New York (HedgeCo.Net) &#8211; Private equity firms invested $347 billion in more than 2,000 U.S.-based companies last year, according to the third annual\u00a0\u201cPrivate Equity: Top States and Districts\u201d\u00a0analysis released today by the Private Equity Growth Capital Council (PEGCC).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0analysis\u00a0ranks the top 20 states and congressional districts by investment value and the number of investments. \u00a0\u201cPrivate Equity: Top States and Districts\u201d is presented in an\u00a0interactive map\u00a0that provides the industry\u2019s most up-to-date information on a state-by-state basis.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1372260011101_31574\">\u201cPrivate equity invested more than $347 billion in U.S.-based companies last year,\u201d said Steve Judge, president and CEO of the Private Equity Growth Capital Council. \u201cThis is long-term capital working to strengthen companies located in all 50 states.\u00a0 This report highlights the magnitude of private equity investment nationwide.\u00a0 Private equity fortifies and expands businesses, develops new products and innovations and creates jobs for Americans. \u00a0This activity has a profoundly positive impact for economic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Texas received the most investment from private equity (measured in dollars invested) totaling $46.6 billion in 222 companies, followed by California, Colorado, Illinois and Florida. Colorado\u2019s 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Congressional District, represented by Rep. Mike Coffman, received $17.2 billion and ranks as the top district for private equity investment. \u00a0Congressional districts represented by Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18), Danny K.
