{"id":39128,"date":"2013-11-14T09:01:53","date_gmt":"2013-11-14T14:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=39128"},"modified":"2013-12-10T05:30:02","modified_gmt":"2013-12-10T10:30:02","slug":"goldman-sachs-to-dump-hedge-funds-to-comply-with-vlocker-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/11\/2013\/goldman-sachs-to-dump-hedge-funds-to-comply-with-vlocker-regulations.html","title":{"rendered":"Goldman Sachs To Dump Hedge Funds To Comply With Volcker Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-39131\" alt=\"images\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/images.jpg\" width=\"265\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a>New York (HedgeCo.Net) &#8211; In order to comply with new regulatory changes, Goldman Sachs has said that it is winding down it&#8217;s hedge fund business, CNBC reports.<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of the investment giant, indicated that clients will continue to demand\u00a0some services prohibited under Volcker and while\u00a0Goldman Sachs\u00a0would still be permitted to co-invest with and provide liquidity to its investors, key businesses would no longer be as attractive as they once were.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Volcker Rule\u00a0is a specific section of the\u00a0Dodd\u2013Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act\u00a0originally proposed by American economist and former United States\u00a0Federal Reserve\u00a0Chairman\u00a0Paul Volcker\u00a0to restrict banks from making certain kinds of\u00a0speculative\u00a0investments that do not benefit their customers.<\/p>\n<p>Volcker argued that such speculative activity played a key role in the\u00a0financial crisis of 2007\u20132010.
