Obtaining celebrity status wasn’t a motivation either. As a top analyst at Morgan Stanley for 30 years, his name is well-known in many corners of the financial world.<\/p>\n
No, Biggs wrote about the roller-coaster world of hedge funds and Wall Street investing because the writing process helps him to organize and clarify his thoughts.<\/p>\n
“Writing has always been a way of thinking for me. Investing is a very emotional business,” said the Greenwich resident of 35 years, who was a creative writing major at Yale University. “What crystallizes my thinking is writing.”<\/p>\n
Biggs said he also wrote the book to debunk the myth that millions of dollars in profits are at the ready and waiting for anyone who starts a hedge fund.<\/p>\n
“I’m trying to write a book that is an impressionistic book about the agony and ecstasy of being a professional investor,” he said. “This is not a book of how to invest or how to start a hedge fund. I’m not interested in doing that.”<\/p>\n
But Biggs balked at the suggestion the book is a kiss-and-tell expose of the highly secretive world of hedge funds.<\/p>\n
“Absolutely not,” he said.<\/a><\/p>\n
