{"id":41299,"date":"2014-03-26T07:21:11","date_gmt":"2014-03-26T11:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=41299"},"modified":"2014-03-26T07:46:20","modified_gmt":"2014-03-26T11:46:20","slug":"hedge-fund-drops-lawsuit-against-anonymous-blogger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/03\/2014\/hedge-fund-drops-lawsuit-against-anonymous-blogger.html","title":{"rendered":"Hedge Fund Drops Lawsuit Against Anonymous Blogger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/images-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-40427 alignright\" alt=\"images (2)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/images-2.jpg\" width=\"226\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a>New York (HedgeCo.Net) &#8211;\u00a0David Einhorn, the founder of hedge fund Greenlight Capital has\u00a0dropped a lawsuit aimed at finding an anonymous blogger anonymous blogger &#8220;Valuable Insights&#8221; who posts on financial website Seeking Alpha.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreenlight dropped the suit of its own accord,\u201d Colin Lokey a director \u00a0at Seeking Alpha said, according to the NYT. \u201cWe did not at any time disclose the author\u2019s identity formally or informally, and at no time were our actions dictated by reaching a deal with Greenlight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Einhorn filed a lawsuit seeking to identify the financial blogger in order to sue him or her. The hedge fund had wanted to keep its trades confidential so no one else would buy the sought-after stock, apparently blogging about it rose the stock price, frustrating and angering the hedge fund giant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.valuewalk.com\/2014\/02\/greenlight-lawsuit-micron\/\" target=\"_blank\">ValueWalk report<\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ed<\/span>\u00a0that: Sometime prior to 9:32 AM on November 14, 2013, Valuable Insights posted \u201cExpect one mega hedge fund rock star to show up as [Micron] holder today, not Ackman, Icahn or Loeb . . . .\u201d Valuable Insights then followed up that post by giving hints to other users of Seeking Alpha. First, he or she posted \u201cHint\u2026this hedge fund has experience in\u00a0consolidating (oligopoly) tech industries\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 He or\u00a0\u00a0 she continued: \u201cHint\u2026would not mention if\u00a0fund added more than 2 or 3 positions a quarter\u2026.\u201d At or around 9:32 AM, after the original and\u00a0follow-up messages had been posted by Valuable Insights, Seeking Alpha user \u201cDr. Joseph\u00a0Haluska\u201d suggested \u201cEinhorn\u201d, referring to Greenlight\u2019s\u00a0President and co-founder, David\u00a0Einhorn.
