{"id":43656,"date":"2014-08-21T08:03:06","date_gmt":"2014-08-21T12:03:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=43656"},"modified":"2014-08-21T08:11:46","modified_gmt":"2014-08-21T12:11:46","slug":"aima-the-case-for-hedge-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/08\/2014\/aima-the-case-for-hedge-funds.html","title":{"rendered":"AIMA: The Case For Hedge Funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/hedge-fund.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-38045\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/hedge-fund.png\" alt=\"hedge-fund\" width=\"233\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/hedge-fund.png 233w, https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/hedge-fund-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a>New York (HedgeCo.Net) &#8211; The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the global hedge fund industry body, has published \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aima.org\/en\/document-summary\/index.cfm\/docid\/9CC32A29-A6A2-467B-A1076D225FBB92AC\" target=\"_blank\">The Case for Hedge Funds<\/a>\u201d, a compilation of AIMA\u2019s thought-leadership research since the global financial crisis.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-page booklet summarises the themes that AIMA has explored since 2008 as it sought to demonstrate the value of the world\u2019s hedge fund industry to investors, financial markets and the broader economy.<\/p>\n<p>It includes excerpts from AIMA\u2019s key research papers, including the \u201cRoadmap to Hedge Funds\u201d, the first guide about hedge funds to be produced collaboratively by the industry and investors; \u201cThe Cost of Compliance\u201d, a global survey of managers that revealed the significant investments they are making in order to comply with the new regulatory requirements; \u201cBeyond 60\/40\u201d, which demonstrated the different roles that hedge funds play in institutional investors\u2019 portfolios; and \u201cApples and Apples\u201d, an educational guide to understanding hedge fund performance.<\/p>\n<p>There are also extracts from many of AIMA\u2019s white papers and articles on a range of topics including the industry\u2019s social utility, the impact of institutionalisation, shadow banking, short selling and the industry\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n<p>AIMA CEO Jack Inglis said: \u201cEver since the onset of the financial crisis, AIMA has worked tirelessly to demonstrate the case for hedge funds to policymakers, regulators, investors and the media. We have now pulled these various arguments and pieces of research together into a major compendium of our work. This work of course continues.
