{"id":4449,"date":"2006-05-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-05-19T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"currency-platforms-fight-for-growing-fx-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/05\/2006\/currency-platforms-fight-for-growing-fx-business.html","title":{"rendered":"Currency platforms fight for growing FX business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reuters &#8211; Scrambling for business, trying to attract hedge funds and changing ownership &#8212; currency trading platforms are having a busy year.<\/p>\n<p>  Signs of increasing volume in the global foreign exchange markets &#8212; $1.9 trillion a day at the last official count &#8212; and a huge influx of business from hedge funds and others who trade fast and  often, have boosted currency trading platforms.<\/p>\n<p>  The interbank market has used electronic trading services for years, but other players &#8212; funds, corporates and smaller banks &#8212; previously used telephone trading.<\/p>\n<p>  Electronic trading platforms aimed at these markets started around five years ago, but their strength is growing, market participants say.<\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;The whole marketplace is in a state of flux at the moment, no one really knows what&#8217;s happening,&#8221; said Ian Marsh, Professor of Finance at Cass Business School in London. &#8220;We have moved from the  world of market-maker banks, the interbank market, to the new liquidity which is coming from hedge funds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/today.reuters.com\/news\/newsArticle.aspx?type=reutersEdge&amp;storyID=2006-05-19T115442Z_01_L05430580_RTRUKOC_0_US-MARKETS-CURRENCIES-PLATFORMS.xml\">Read Complete Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reuters &#8211; Scrambling for business, trying to attract hedge funds and changing ownership &#8212; currency trading platforms are having a busy year.
