Representing Australia, Kim Ivey, director of Vertex Capital Management, said that there was a lot of money in the market, from both retail and wholesale investors. “Australia is a sophisticated market with a large talent pool and is very well regulated,” he said.<\/p>\n
Ted Uemmae, president of Alternative Investment Products in Japan, said that the market welcomed foreign managers. Institutional investors have widely embraced hedge funds in the past 12 months. “Japanese investors realise the importance of diversification,” he noted. However, while Japan allows managers a foot in the door, sustainability requires a local presence.<\/p>\n
