{"id":46588,"date":"2015-02-23T08:08:41","date_gmt":"2015-02-23T13:08:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/?p=46588"},"modified":"2015-02-23T08:19:54","modified_gmt":"2015-02-23T13:19:54","slug":"man-group-expands-glg-hedge-fund-arm-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/02\/2015\/man-group-expands-glg-hedge-fund-arm-in-japan.html","title":{"rendered":"Man Group Expands GLG Hedge Fund Arm In Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Japan-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-42749\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Japan-2.jpg\" alt=\"Japan-2\" width=\"311\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Japan-2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Japan-2-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/a>New York (HedgeCo.Net) &#8211; Man Group is adding to its portfolio by acquiring the Tokyo based Japan Long Short Equity Strategy fund, the investment management business of NewSmith LLP, an equity investment manager with $1.2 billion of funds under management.<\/p>\n<p>The NewSmith acquisition allows for the expansion in Tokyo of Man GLG\u2019s equities business, providing further opportunity to manage funds for Japan\u2019s largest institutional asset manager, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Limited (SuMi TRUST), a key client of Man Group.<\/p>\n<p>When the deal reaches completion in the second quarter of 2015, four NewSmith strategies will be integrated into Man GLG.<\/p>\n<p>NewSmith has offices in London and Tokyo and has four portfolio management teams with 15 investment professionals, investing in UK, European, Global and Japanese equities.
