The $400 million hedge fund firm specializes in long-short emerging markets strategies. The \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cinvestigations relating to the manipulation of certain shares are ongoing and individuals acquainted with the facts of the cases have been called in to assist,\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d a Securities Commission spokeswoman told Dow Jones Newswires. <\/p>\n
Hedge fund Aeneas Capital Management L.P. suffered big losses that reportedly followed investments in Malaysian shares such as smart card maker Iris Corp., poultry producer Farm\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s Best Bhd., and Internet related systems provider Mobif Bhd. According to Bursa filings from early 2006, Aeneas bought and sold substantial amounts of shares in these companies. <\/p>\n
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to say if the commission is working with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in its probe. <\/p>\n
