{"id":5214,"date":"2006-10-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-10-31T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"morgan-stanley-to-buy-fund-firm-frontpoint-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/10\/2006\/morgan-stanley-to-buy-fund-firm-frontpoint-source.html","title":{"rendered":"Morgan Stanley to buy fund firm FrontPoint-source"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>  NEW YORK, Oct 31 (Reuters) &#8211; Morgan Stanley is expected to announce plans to buy hedge fund firm FrontPoint Partners LLC for about $400 million as early as Tuesday, a person familiar with the talks  said, as the investment bank makes its second hedge-fund investment in as many days.<\/p>\n<p>  Greenwich, Connecticut-based FrontPoint, which manages $5.7 billion in assets, is led by Chairman Philip Duff, formerly Morgan Stanley&#8217;s chief financial officer.<\/p>\n<p>  The move would come a day after Morgan Stanley, which declined comment, agreed to buy about an 18 percent stake in Avenue Capital Group for less than $300 million.
