{"id":7299,"date":"2008-03-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-13T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"times-no-sale-hedges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/03\/2008\/times-no-sale-hedges.html","title":{"rendered":"Times:  No Sale, Hedges!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York Post &#8212; The New York Times Co. isn&#8217;t bowing to pressure from  dissident shareholders who want it to shed the Boston Globe and other assets.  <\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Janet Robinson said yesterday that a Globe sale is unlikely  given the lack of demand for daily newspapers.  <\/p>\n<p>The publisher also has no plans to sell its regional newspapers or its 17  percent stake in the Boston Red Sox baseball team, Robinson said at a Bear  Stearns conference in Palm Beach, Fla.  <\/p>\n<p>The remarks fly in the face of demands by hedge fund investors Harbinger  Capital Partners and Firebrand Partners, which together hold 19 percent of  common shares.
