West Palm Beach (HedgeCo.Net) – Morgan Stanley Investment Management says it has agreed to take a minority stake in the London-based hedge fund firm Hawker Capital.<\/p>\n
This will add to the $577 billion in assets that MSIM currently manages through stakes in Avenue Capital Group, Landsdowne Partners, Abax Global Capital and Taxis Partners, among others.<\/p>\n
"This partnership represents another enhancement to MSIM’s alternative investments capabilities,” said Stu Bohart, Co-Head of MSIM and Head of Alternative Investments. “We believe Hawker’s talented investment team is well-positioned to take advantage of the significant opportunities across the commodities space, and we are excited to partner with Hawker to provide our clients access to their proven investment expertise." <\/p>\n
Hawker, which was founded in 2007, uses a fundamental, research-based long\/short approach focused on capacity-based markets using commodities and equities.<\/p>\n
