{"id":8010,"date":"2008-07-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"connecticut-hedge-fund-scammer-wants-diploma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hedgeco.net\/news\/07\/2008\/connecticut-hedge-fund-scammer-wants-diploma.html","title":{"rendered":"Connecticut hedge fund scammer wants diploma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newsday- A 23-year-old man convicted of running a hedge fund scam in <span class=\"taxInlineTagLink\">Connecticut<\/span> has filed a federal lawsuit against <span class=\"taxInlineTagLink\">New York University<\/span>, claiming the school owes him a diploma. <\/p>\n<p>Hakan Yalincak, an NYU undergraduate, was sentenced last year to 3 1\/2 years in prison for persuading investors to pour millions into a nonexistent Greenwich-based hedge fund. <\/p>\n<p>A $21 million gift that Yalincak had promised to New York University proved to be an a fraud.
