The Florida Venture Forum is seeking applications from start-up companies to pitch their business plans at the 13th annual Florida Venture Capital Conference in January in Orlando.<\/p>\n
As many as 25 companies normally come to strut their stuff at the gathering in hopes of exiting with enough money to bring their business to life.<\/p>\n
Business hopefuls can apply at www.flvencap.org\/apply; the deadline is Sept. 12.<\/p>\n
Companies have raised $532 million after going before the picky audience of venture capitalists.<\/p>\n
The forum usually receives 150 to 200 applications a year, mainly in software development, biotechnology and communications.<\/p>\n
Lately, the forum’s board of venture capitalists has shied away from early-stage start-ups and has concentrated on companies with a track record.<\/p>\n
“Yes, and with real revenue and real customers,” said forum Executive Director Jeanne Becker.<\/p>\n
The message: If you don’t make money, you won’t get money from us.<\/p>\n
