HedgeCo.Net \u2014 Capula Investment Management, the London-based hedge fund firm with more than $35 billion in assets, is exploring plans to open an office in Athens, Bloomberg reported, as summarized by Hedgeweek. The plans are at an early stage and no final decision has been taken, while a Capula spokesperson declined to comment.<\/p>\n

The clearest evidence is a recruitment drive. A Capula job listing for an Operations Director in Athens describes the role as leading the new Athens office, with responsibilities that include setting up the office and overseeing finance, compliance and local regulatory filings. Hedgeweek said the firm is seeking an executive to oversee the potential launch.<\/p>\n

Capula would join a growing list of large managers looking at Greece. Millennium Management is establishing an Athens office, with London-based portfolio manager Rahul Chopra among staff relocating, and Verition Fund Management is also exploring a presence in the Greek capital, according to the report.<\/p>\n

The draw is partly fiscal. Greece has used tax incentives aimed at wealthy individuals to attract senior financiers, and last month Rokos Capital Management founder Chris Rokos disclosed plans to move his tax residency from the UK to Greece, Hedgeweek noted.<\/p>\n

For investors, a satellite office is a modest step, but the pattern matters.
