HedgeCo.Net \u2014 I Squared Capital has held the final close of ISQ Global Infrastructure Credit Fund II at more than $2.4 billion, over four times the size of its predecessor, the Miami-based infrastructure investor said on November 3.<\/p>\n
Including more than $600 million of commitments and expected commitments to related co-investment vehicles, the strategy totals $3 billion, double its original $1.5 billion target.<\/p>\n
The fund lends to mid-market owners and operators of essential infrastructure, including power generation and grids, fiber networks, data centers, ports, terminals and logistics. It provides mainly senior financing in North America and Europe, secured by physical assets and backed by contracted or regulated cash flows. About 37% of the capital is already committed across seven investments.<\/p>\n
Co-founder and global CIO Gautam Bhandari said infrastructure credit has become a standalone asset class, and fund partner David Rosenblum said the firm underwrites loans as an owner that knows how the assets are built and run. I Squared manages more than $60 billion and has invested in infrastructure equity since 2012.<\/p>\n
The size jump reflects a wider shift: allocators that once treated infrastructure debt as a sleeve of private credit are now funding it as its own bucket, attracted by asset security and contracted revenue.
