Sagard described the vehicle as the largest fund ever raised with a specific focus on emerging buyout managers, drawing on more than three decades of experience investing in newer private equity firms.

The team has backed more than 125 emerging managers over that period, including early funds of firms that later became established industry leaders. Following the combination of Unigestion with Sagard Private Equity, the strategy leans on a broader international network and local market access across North America, Europe and Asia. The fund targets differentiated managers such as spinouts from hard-to-access firms and sector specialists, and may also make co-investments, late primaries and shorter-duration commitments to manage diversification and cash flow. Sagard said the fund is already well deployed into emerging manager opportunities in the United States and Europe.

Kim Pochon, global head of primary investments at Sagard Private Equity, said the close underscores investor confidence in the dedicated emerging manager team. Paul Newsome, head of investment solutions, pointed to renewed institutional interest in emerging managers for sector expertise and lower middle-market access, while noting that identifying and evaluating those firms still requires significant resources. Sagard held its sixth annual Emerging Manager Conference in Paris during IPEM Global in September 2026.

Sagard Private Equity manages more than $23 billion in combined private equity assets after combinations with Performance Equity Management, BEX Capital and Unigestion’s private equity platforms, connecting more than 300 institutional investors and over 500 general partners. Parent firm Sagard manages more than $47 billion across venture, private equity, private credit and real estate.

For allocators, the close is a scale signal in a niche that has often been capacity-constrained: a dedicated emerging manager sleeve large enough to underwrite spinouts and specialists while still offering co-investment and late-primary flexibility. The diligence questions are pacing of the remaining undeployed capital, concentration across geographies, and how the Unigestion combination changes sourcing and monitoring bandwidth.

HedgeCo.Net — Sagard Private Equity announced the final close of its third emerging manager-focused fund at €520 million, or about $600 million, exceeding the original €400 million… Continue reading →

[15
16808,17295,17296,17298,17294,17297
post-92508","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-private-equity","tag-emerging-managers","tag-fund-of-funds","tag-kim-pochon","tag-middle-market-private-equity","tag-sagard-private-equity","tag-unigestion
["GET
