Fund-Rules Debate Rages as E.U. Nears Decision

NYT – The debate over European Union legislation that would introduce stricter regulation of the private equity and hedge fund industries intensified in Britain as the European Parliament stood poised to approve the directives.

While the expected approval by European lawmakers is a step toward the measures becoming law, they would still require the approval of the individual E.U. countries, including Britain, which has raised the most objections to the proposed rules, Reuters notes.
