New York (HedgeCo.net) – Long/short equity hedge fund Union Capital Management (UCM) has launched the UCM Union Delta Fund today, Oct 1st, 2010.
With J.P. Morgan as prime broker and cash manager, the new fund is run by Chief Investment Officer Rudy Torrijos, Chief Operating Officer Robert Krumme, Trading and Risk Manager Christopher Gaine and Equity Analyst Erik Fordyce.
“Our strategy is to make investments in winning growth stocks, monitor fundamental changes and constantly look for early evidence of deceleration to sell.” Krumme, COO said, “Knowledge of the underlying company fundamentals combined with knowledge of prevailing market forces are essential components in anticipating changes to a company’s growth prospects and for positioning the portfolio to protect capital.”
Founder and CIO Rudy Torrijos’ previous experience includes technology portfolio manager for the $3.5 billion Emerging Growth Equity Funds at Delaware Investments, technology sector management of the $500 million Fiduciary Trust SmallCap Growth Fund at Franklin Templeton. Torijos was also fund manager on the $3B Neuberger Berman Growth Fund and senior equity analyst at Hellman Jordan Management’s $1 billion hedge fund. He earned a B.A. in Applied Mathematics/Economics from Harvard University and was CIO of the Harvard Investment Association.
After 20 years of investing in growth companies, Torrijos founded Union Capital to give his clients a venue to invest in their future through growth stocks in a way that mutual funds and index funds have not been able to deliver.
“Growth investing still provides the greatest chance of capital appreciation, but without ample and active protection that appreciation is almost always entirely lost if the investment is held too long. “Torrijos said of the launch, “All investors need to adopt investing strategies that adapt to the changed environment in which growth companies now operate.”
“The name ‘Union’ was selected to signify the coming together of all people to support a common goal. My goal is to provide my investors with the capital appreciation their hard earned money deserves in order to reinvest in family, retirement, the American dream, or the community we come from.” Torrijos concluded.
