Lehman Trustee Fighting Hedge Funds Over Prime Broker Assets

Dow Jones – The trustee overseeing the liquidation of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.’s (LEHMQ) brokerage business is balking at a call by a hedge fund into the status of billions of dollars tied up in Lehman prime brokerage accounts.

James W. Giddens, the trustee winding down Lehman Brothers Inc., or LBI, blasted a bid by hedge fund Newport Global Opportunities Fund for a probe of how securities the fund thought it had parked in New York at Lehman Brothers Inc. ended up pledged to Lehman Brothers International (Europe).
