HFM Week – High fees, illiquidity and fear of high risk are still the biggest stumbling blocks to pension funds engaging with the hedge fund space, according to a number of trustees HFMWeek spoke to at the annual NAPF conference last week.
Many of the pension funds vocalised a loss of confidence in hedge funds, having invested pre-2008 and lost money without understanding what happened to their investment and why – highlighting the need for greater education and transparency on the part of hedge funds and investment consultants.
