(Bloomberg) Greenlight Capital, the hedge fund firm led by David Einhorn, posted a decline of 0.9 percent in its main fund in September, paring gains to 4.5 percent for the first three quarters of 2016.
The average hedge fund has lagged behind the stock market this year, rising 1.1 percent through Sept. 29, according to preliminary performance data compiled by Hedge Fund Research Inc. The S&P 500 Total Return Index, a measure that includes reinvested dividends, rose 7 percent during the same period.
