Jul. 15–HUGHES APPOINTED HR SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT: Blythe Hughes has been appointed by Countrywide Home Loans Inc. as its senior vice president of human resources for its consumer markets division.In this position, Hughes will be responsible for implementing human resources processes to support the company’s organizational development strategies, including compensation, employee developmentand recruiting.
Previously, Hughes served as vice president of global compensation at Nortel Networks. Prior to this position, she served as Nortel Network’s human resources director. In addition, Hughes has held management positions with EDS and Life Insurance Company of the Southwest.
DENERO NAMED TO THQ BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Henry T. DeNero has been appointed by THQ to its board of directors. He is the sixth member of THQ’s board and the fifth outside director.
DeNero, 57, has been executive vice president of First Data Corp., and vice chairman and chief financial officer of Dayton Hudson Corp. (now Target Corp.). His experience also includes tenure as chairman and CEO of HomeSpace Inc. He is an advisor to venture capital firms and an independent management consultant, and is also a director of Banta Corp., Digital Insight Corp. and Western Digital Corp.
THQ Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI) is a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software.
HOPP NAMED TO BOARD AT ON ASSIGNMENT INC.: Teresa Hopp has been appointed to the board of directors of On Assignment Inc. (Nasdaq: ASGN), an international science and healthcare temporary staffing company providing services in laboratory support, nursing, allied healthcare and medical-financial staffing.
Hopp formerly was chief financial officer with Western Digital Corp. before retiring in 2001. Prior to joining Western Digital, Hopp was an audit partner with Ernst & Young LLP with whom she was associated for 17 years.
DR. BAR-ZION GIVES LECTURE IN HAWAII: Dr. Yossi Bar-Zion, a Moorpark orthodontist of Conejo Orthodontics, presented at the annual American Association of Orthodontists in Honolulu.
Bar-Zion lectured on the use of computers and Internet technologies particularly as it relates and applies to wireless communications and orthodontics. Also part of the faculty at the University of Southern California, Bar-Zion has been implementing the use of this technology in his office.
He has lectured at previous association meetings including Chicago and Philadelphia.
Iwerks joins Legacy Design Group’s board Don Iwerks, co-founder of Iwerks Entertainment Inc., has joined the board of directors of the Legacy Design Group.
Iwerks’ lifetime achievements include receiving the Gordon E. Sawyer Award — an Oscar given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in recognition of his lifetime of exceptional contributions to the science and technology of motion picture.
He has been associated with many accomplishments, including the 360-degree CircleVision camera and projection systems that he worked on with his father, animation pioneer and Walt Disney partner, Ub Iwerks.
The Legacy Group of Moorpark produces photographic images etched on permanently colorized, stainless steel for theme parks, museums, zoos, memorials, donor-sponsored fund-raising, architectural facades and other specialty applications.
THIELE NAMED FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER: Judy Thiele has been appointed vice president and financial services manager for Mid-State Bank & Trust’s County Center Office in Ventura. As manager, she oversees the daily operations and personal and commercial lending activities at the bank’s office at 6401 E. Telephone Road.
Thiele joined Mid-State Bank & Trust in 2000 and most recently served as financial services manager of the bank’s Goleta Valley office. She has more than 25 years of local banking experience, most recently as branch manager for Santa Clara Valley Bank in Fillmore. Prior to that, she was business development manager at Channel Islands National Bank and served for 16 years at Ventura County National Bank, where she was promoted to assistant vice president in the special assets department.
ROUNDY INSTALLED AS LIONS CLUB PRESIDENT: Jeff Roundy, associate broker with RE/MAX Gold Coast Realtors in Ventura, recently was installed as president of the Ventura Downtown chapter of the International Association of Lions Club in the 80th annual installation of officers and directors.
Roundy, a Realtor since 1975 and top producer in three local firms before joining RE/MAX, has been a member of Lions Clubs International since 1991, and previously was honored with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. Jones founded the organization in 1917 for business clubs to expand their horizons to include the betterment of their communities and the world at large.
