MENLO PARK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 14, 2003–Mayfield, a premier venture capital partnership investing in technology companies for the communications and enterprise software industries, todayappointed Peter Levine a General Partner in the firm. Levine has nearly two decades of operational expertise in the enterprise software and storage sectors.
Levine, 42, joined Mayfield in 2002 as a Venture Partner after 12 years at VERITAS Software. At VERITAS, Levine’s final position before joining Mayfield was Executive Vice President for Strategic and Platform Operations, with responsibility for worldwide marketing, OEM sales, business development and new product and platform development. Levine started at VERITAS in 1990 as a software engineer and was one of its early employees. Prior to VERITAS, Peter was a software engineer at MIT’s Project Athena, where he worked on a variety of distributed computing projects.
During the past 13 months as a Venture Partner, Levine led investments in 2 companies — OuterBay and Mendocino — where he now serves on the Boards of Directors.
