Consonance Capital Partners Closed Its Third Healthcare Buyout Fund at a $1.35 Billion Hard Cap

HedgeCo.Net — Consonance Capital Partners said Consonance Private Equity III closed with $1.35 billion of commitments at the fund’s hard cap after just under four months in the market. The New York healthcare specialist described the process as heavily oversubscribed and said Fund III will continue to pursue lower- and middle-market U.S. healthcare companies.

The strategy spans growth equity, leveraged buyouts, carve-outs, recapitalizations and special situations, with an emphasis on businesses that improve efficiency, contain cost and deliver high-quality care. Existing limited partners provided the core of the raise, joined by a select group of new investors drawn from endowments and foundations, pension plans and financial institutions worldwide.

Monument Group served as global placement agent and Latham & Watkins as legal counsel. Managing partners credited portfolio company management teams as well as LPs for a fundraising pace that, in their view, reflected confidence in the team’s results and sector focus.

In a selective PE fundraising climate, a sub-four-month hard-cap close is a useful barometer: specialist healthcare managers with repeat LP support can still fill books quickly even when generalist vehicles take longer. The hard cap also caps AUM growth, which can matter for ownership targets in the lower middle market.

Allocators will watch deployment pace and whether Fund III’s first deals stay inside the firm’s historical size band, a common risk when a successor fund is larger than prior vintages even when it hits a stated hard cap.
