Russian investors allege $20m hedge fund fraud

BVI – A group of more than 470 Russian and Eastern European investors sued a family of hedge funds last week, alleging a $20 million “massive fraud.”

Three Russian lawyers filed the lawsuit in United States federal court against the New York-based Thor family of hedge funds, a group that had registered some of its funds in the Virgin Islands. The suit alleges that the Thor family falsely promised the plaintiffs that their investment would be safe, earn a “substantial return,” and be redeemable within 20 days.
