New York (HedgeCo.net) – Hedge Funds Care, an international non-profit organization which raises funds and awareness within the hedge fund industry for programs that work to prevent and treat child abuse, announced that it will hold its 13th Annual New York Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street, New York City).
The New York benefit, which brings together over 1000 leaders in finance, is the alternative investment industry’s signature charity gala and the largest event that Hedge Funds Care holds anywhere in the world. This year’s event will feature an elegant cocktail reception and the presentation of the Hedge Funds Care Award for Caring to Anthony Scaramucci, Managing Partner of Skybridge Capital, for his many philanthropic endeavors. The Co-chairs for the event are Dean Backer, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and Jay Peller, Managing Director of Citco Fund Services.
The Hedge Funds Care Award for Caring is awarded to a leader in the industry who demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to philanthropy. Previous recipients include Michael Novogratz, President of Fortress Investment Group, Kenneth Tropin, Chairman of Graham Capital Management and Michael Vranos, CEO of Ellington Management.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by Hedge Funds Care at their flagship event. I strongly believe in this vital charity and its mission of preventing and treating child abuse as well as promoting the philanthropy of the hedge fund industry,” stated Anthony Scaramucci, Managing Partner of Skybridge Capital and the 2011 recipient of the Hedge Funds Care Award for caring.
Funds for Hedge Funds Care are raised through events in more than 12 cities in the US, the UK, Canada, and Cayman Islands, and granted to community organizations addressing this issue. Hedge Funds Care is the only grant making public charity that focuses exclusively on funding this cause. Since its inception in 1998, Hedge Funds Care has awarded over 660 grants totaling $23 million. The signature New York Gala raised $2 million in 2010 and is expected to raise over $2 million this year for child abuse programs in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The 13th Annual New York Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit is also an excellent opportunity to connect and build relationships. Attendees will include hedge fund investors, service providers and senior professionals, including some of the most recognized and respected investment managers in the industry.
“The most prominent and respected managers in the hedge fund industry will not only be in attendance for this key industry charity event, many of them are also longtime supporters of Hedge Funds Care. We urge our colleagues to follow their lead in supporting the Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit by purchasing tickets, placing an ad in the program journal, underwriting portions of the event, or making a direct donation to Hedge Funds Care,” stated John Budzyna, President and Chairman of Hedge Funds Care.
“Citco Fund Services has been a strong supporter of Hedge Funds Care and its mission for years. We are pleased to renew our support in 2011 and urge our colleagues in the hedge fund industry to also stand behind this most critical alternative investment centered charity,” added Jay Peller, Managing Director at Citco Fund Services and one of the two Co-chairs for this year’s Gala.
