Hedge funds gain 0.85% in February

New York (HedgeCo.net) – Hedge funds gained 0.85% globally in February, according to Hedge Fund Intelligence, bringing the year-to-date return across all strategies to 1.27% (so far, this year is broadly better than the prior three.)

The Global Composite Index was down 0.26% in 2008, up 0.18% in 2009 and up 0.41% in 2010 for the same period). The best performing strategy this year remains Event Driven, despite what has been reported as a lag in M&A activity.

Equity fund were up 0.90% globally in February, putting them up 1.3% for the year. That’s well behind the 3.2% February gain for the S&P 500, which is up 5.53% for the year.
