Amazon lays off employees in its advertising unit

(CNBC) Amazon on Tuesday began laying off some employees in its advertising as part of CEO Andy Jassy’s effort to rein in costs, the company confirmed. Paul Kotas, Amazon’s senior vice president of advertising, IMDb and Grand Challenge, sent a note to staffers informing them of the layoffs, according to a copy of the memo shared by an Amazon spokesperson.
