Andreessen Horowitz Raised a $1.1 Billion Machine Age Fund for AI Hardware:

HedgeCo.Net — Andreessen Horowitz said Friday it had raised $1.1 billion for a new Machine Age Fund aimed at the physical buildout of artificial intelligence. The firm’s own post is the primary. TechCrunch independently printed the same $1.1 billion raise and the same hardware-infrastructure mandate.

The vehicle is meant to back chips, memory, networking, storage, data centers, robotics, and home AI appliances — the hardware layer a16z framed as hitting supply-chain and physics limits even as software demand scales. Partners named on the post include Ben Horowitz, Martin Casado, Raghu Raghuram, David Ulevitch, and David George. The firm cast the fund as making hardware an “official motion,” not a software sidecar.

Limited partners and first-versus-final-close splits were not disclosed in the announcement. Coverage over the weekend, including The Hindu Business Line on Saturday, repeated the same $1.1 billion figure and the same mandate without adding LP names.

The allocator object is a dedicated hardware-infrastructure book, not another software AI growth fund with a hardware footnote. Anyone filing this under pure SaaS venture has misread the mandate.
