Telegraph – (I’m pretty sure this story got in my inbox because of a typo in it’s title, anyhoo…. Happy fall!) – This weekend, with the autumnal equinox, summer becomes autumn. Scarves and hats are officially permissible, sloe gin is entirely appropriate and now is the time to embark on a fruitless search for Tupperware lids that match each tub in anticipation of the wild harvest ahead.
It is the hedgerow-foraging season, with berries, haws, hips, sloes, crab apples and wild damsons to look forward to. If you consider yourself in any way British, it is incumbent upon you to scrabble about in your local hedges, braving the stingers and wasps, exercising your right to pick blackberries for the finest crumble there is.
