New York (HedgeCo.Net) – Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Stiller, Michelle Williams, Ed Burns, Steve Buscemi and many others joined Cantor Fitzgerald and hedge fund brokerage firm BGC Partners yesterday, raising approximately $12 million for charities around the world.
Founded to commemorate the 658 Cantor and 61 Eurobroker employees lost in the 9/11 World Trade Canter attacks, Charity Day, in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, has since expanded to assist charitable causes worldwide, providing aid to victims of terrorism, natural disaster and emergencies. Since its inception Charity Day has raised approximately $113 million globally.
Other celebrity guests included actors, Idina Menzel, Gina Gershon, Chazz Palminteri, AnnaSophia Robb, John Slattery, Patrick Wilson, Annalynne McCord and Zosia Mamet, to name just a few. Leading athletes who joined us included New York Nets point guard Deron Williams, New York Rangers Henrik Lundqvist and Martin St. Louis, New York Yankees CC Sabathia and Carlos Beltran, New York Mets Matt Harvey, and New York sports icons Mark Messier, Mariano Rivera, Willie Randolph, Carlos Beltran, Dwight “Doc” Goodin, Olympic gold medalist winners Bode Miller and Mikaela Shiffrin and professional surfer Bethany Hamilton. Top models included Christy Turlington, Karolina Kurkova, Cameron Russell, Constance Jablonski, and Jessica Stam, as well as musicians Jon Bon Jovi and Swizz Beatz. In addition, TV personalities Dr. Oz and Padma Lakshmi, and news journalists Tom Keene and Richard Lui, as well as Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, joined Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day, among many others.
To date, Charity Day has raised approximately $113 million for charitable causes around the world, and since its inception the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund has raised and distributed over $270 million.
